It isn’t, of course, and soon they’re busy trying to figure out a relationship when they live a plane-ride away from each other and each have their own emotional baggage to deal with. They share a night together on the last night Kade is to stay in Oceanport and hope that’ll be enough for them. The two of them seem to have an instant connection and have a hard time keeping their intentions strictly platonic. He ends up in Oceanport to provide the music for Shane’s cousin’s wedding, which is how he meets Shane. Kade is a celebrity singer-songwriter from LA who is currently trying to rebuild his career after it was demolished by a scandal. Shane lost his omega spouse about two years ago and is still struggling to get over the loss while also raising his two young children. We first met Shane in the previous book ( A Baby for the Firefighter) as one of the leads’ widowed cousin. That’s not to say that none of these stories, including this one, are without drama and conflict, but at least the drama doesn’t go over the top and can get resolved without the relationship threatening to implode in on itself. I’m really enjoying this continuing trend of couples in this series getting together and not going through a third-act break-up because they won’t communicate.
