With imprisonment on the table, Persephone’s feeling of failure as the Goddess of Spring holds her back from her true potential. Persephone is asked to create life in the Underworld, or find herself forever bound to the god for the rest of eternity. A fluke encounter with Hades in his gambling suite at Nevernight causes Persephone to be locked in contract with the God of the Underworld … and unsurprisingly, the terms feel weighted in Hades’ favour. The God of the Underworld has built a gambling empire in the mortal world over the years, with his notorious bets rumoured to be impossible for any mortal to overcome. One night out on the town with her friends leads Persephone to Nevernight, the most exclusive club in New Athens, owned by the greek god Hades. Persephone disguises herself as a mortal, attends college, and starts a new job as a journalist at New Athens News. At the age of 18 she’s had enough of feeling like a failure in her godly duties, and so moves from the safety of her childhood home to the hustle and bustle of New Athens. Despite being given the title “Goddess of Spring”, Persephone seems to wilt every flower with her touch.

She’s descriptive in a unique and almost poetic way. This is the first time I’ve read an Adrienne Young book and I do really like her writing style. Now that’s the kind of stuff I can get into. I loved that a lot of the second book also unraveled Fable’s family history. Namesake had way less of this and way more thrilling adventures. The first book was a good introduction to the Fantasy pirate world and the characters but I’m not big on the overly obsessive crushes and romances YA fiction often has. I liked Namesake so much more than Fable. When I saw the sequel fit together with the first book I decided I had to have it. I’m a sucker for all things redheads and this cover spoke to me. I have to be honest when I say I only bought Fable #1 because the cover was too beautiful to not own and #2 everyone on my Instagram was buzzing about it. Five Stars for Namesake by Adrienne Young! Behind their big Gucci sunglas*ses, beneath their perfectly pressed Polos, everyone has something to hide, especially high school juniors Spencer, Aria, Emily, and Hanna. All four Stephens - Julia, Leslie, Vanessa, and Virginia - spent Christmases at Minna's house. Inscribed on front free endpaper ?Minna Duckworth?, dated ?1862? and on the recto of the frontispiece, ?M C Furse? Minna was the nickname of Sarah Emily Duckworth (1827-1918), sister of Herbert Duckworth (barrister, who married Julia Jackson in 1867 (later Julia Stephen, one of the Pattle sisters)). Although initially receiving a less than stellar review by the great nineteenth-century critic, John Ruskin, it struck a chord with the public, and continues to fascinate and inspire commentators, illustrators and readers to this day. Written in 1859 while volunteering at the St Mary Magdalene Penitentiary for ?fallen women? in Highgate, Rossetti?s enigmatic, many-layered poem is one of temptation, sisterly devotion, darkness, love, and redemption. It isn’t, of course, and soon they’re busy trying to figure out a relationship when they live a plane-ride away from each other and each have their own emotional baggage to deal with. They share a night together on the last night Kade is to stay in Oceanport and hope that’ll be enough for them. That’s not to say that none of these stories, including this one, are without drama and conflict, but at least the drama doesn’t go over the top and can get resolved without the relationship threatening to implode in on itself. I’m really enjoying this continuing trend of couples in this series getting together and not going through a third-act break-up because they won’t communicate. Along with being alone in this way, theHowever, the Rauschmonstrum was alone in an even bigger way for he knew there was no God. There were no creatures like him, and although he had the power to do almost anything, one thing he could not do was fashion a friend for himself who was on his level. The Rauschmonstrum had a problem, he was alone. If he wanted to make an apple appear in front of him, he could do that, and if he wanted to transform himself into an apple, he could do that too. The RauschmonstrumHe was a shapeshifting monster able to perform feats which humans would view as miracles or dark magic. It’s time to introduce the Rauschmonstrum. |
